Mock Crash - May 20, 2015
John Taylor Collegiate Students Raising Awareness of Distracted Driving
On Wednesday , May 20th at 1:30 p.m., the students from the T.A.D.D. group at John Taylor Collegiate, located at 470 Hamilton Avenue, will be enacting a mock vehicle crash to raise awareness on the dangers of distracted driving.
To make the event as realistic as possible, the mock crash site will utilize a damaged vehicle provided by Manitoba Public Insurance, as well as student actors from the John Taylor drama class.
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service School Resource Unit, along with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service will be in attendance. A simulated emergency response exercise will be performed to demonstrate how quickly a tragedy can occur when drivers make the choice to utilize their phones while driving.
Following the exercise, emergency services responders will address the student body on the importance of safe driving to prevent the wide-spread devastation and consequences that occur when drivers are distracted.
