Announcements for April 8, 2015

Today is National Anti-Bullying Awareness Day. Wear your Pink Shirts to stand together against bullying. Student Council will provide a special thank you to all students wearing pink tomorrow.

Attention all Student Council: There is an important meeting today at 12:10pm in Ms. Paragg's room. This meeting will be brief; please attend.

Would all improv students who ordered an improv shirt please bring your money to Mrs. Palmer - your shirt is waiting for you....

There will be a track practice today at 3:30. Meet in gym C.

Girls soccer will now be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:45pm.  Meet outside of gym C and make sure you have equipment for outdoors OR an indoor workout.  Please see Ms. Armistead if you cannot attend.

Art Club is on today @ 3:30.  Everyone is welcome.  If you need extra time to work on an art project from class, you’re welcome to join us as well.

Attention all rookie hockey team players! There will be an important rookie hockey tournament meeting right at 12:03 today in room 204. All players must attend.

Anyone interested in playing beach volleyball this upcoming season is asked to put a team together consisting of two or three girls or two or three boys.  Then come see Mr. Goetz in Room 211 to sign up and to get more details when the first beach practice will be.

If any French students are interested in participating in a YMCA work exchange program and are 16 or 17 years of age this summer, please see Ms. Armistead for details.  This is an amazing opportunity.

There will be a sign up sheet for the Teddy Bear picnic volunteers in the office.  Please see Mrs Palmer if you have any questions.

Please note that AP pre-registration will take place on Monday April 20th at 11:30 in the library.

Lunch will be provided.  Please be sure to bring your Student number with you.  Contact Mrs. Palmer if you have any questions.

Grade 11 students wanting to Attend the Rotary Career Symposium please hand back your permission form to Mr. Johnson, if you did not get a permission form please see Mr. Johnson. Symposium is on April 22nd.

Reminder to all JT Grads 2015 - Cap and Gown rentals are $25 and due by May 1st. John Taylor Collegiate is now open to receiving online payments for Grad Cap and Gown 2015.   Please visit the John Taylor Website and click on Grad 2015.  All the information you need regarding grad will be there. Grad dinner tickets will also be available for online purchase in the near future. Please see the school website and listen for synervoice messages for updates.

We have more Safe Grad Fundraising opportunities: Information packages are available at the office for Epicure and Gourmet Kitchen. The last fundraiser for Safe Grad is Rumors Comedy Club on May 1 at 10:30pm. The event is $15.00 per person, profits at 50%. There will be no silent auction or 50/50 to plan.  Gourmet Kitchen will be available for pick up April 15th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.  Epicure orders will be available for pickup April 22nd from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Rumors tickets sales and unsold tickets are due April 23rd at 3:30pm. No late ticket sales. If you want tickets, please contact Michelle Delios @deliosmichelle@gmail.com.

There is another scholarship opportunity for Grade 12 students.  Together with the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, Folklorama is pleased to present the Mark & Dorothy Danzker Scholarship for Excellence, an annual award of excellence for the preservation of ethno-cultural heritage.  This $1000 scholarship acknowledges students who demonstrate an active involvement in preserving their ethno-cultural heritage through volunteer work, employment or contributions to a cultural activity within Manitoba.   The application deadline is April 30, 2015.   Please see Mrs. Palmer for more details.
