Announcements for April 28, 2015

Congratulations to the members of the Pipers badminton team that competed in the WWAC conference finals last week. Lily J. finished second in girls singles. Madison F. and Shaye K. finished second in girls doubles. Rachel K. and Brett A. finished second in mixed doubles and Cole Armstrong and Izzy R. were WWAC mixed doubles champions. Would these athletes competing in Provincials please see Mr. Smith immediately following announcements for a quick but important meeting.

The Intramural floor hockey league begins today. Check the schedule to see when you play this week. Every Monday morning the games are scheduled for the entire week.

There will be a student advisory meeting on Thursday in the Bio lab at 11:45am.

Report Card distribution will take place on Friday May 1st.  Grade 11s and 12s will take place at 2:15 in the Library and Theatre and at 3:20 for Gr 9s and 10s, also in the library and Theatre.

Girl’s soccer is cancelled today.  There will be a girls soccer meeting on Wednesday, April 29th @12:45 in room 303.  You must attend or see Ms. Armistead.

There is an ultimate frisbee practice today at lunch outside and an ultimate frisbee game at 4:15 at JT. Please see Mrs LaPage or Ms Kubas if you can't make either.

Just a reminder that Art Club will take place tomorrow at 3:30 in the Art Room.  All are welcome

Please contact Mrs. Palmer if you are interested in volunteering to repaint a mural at Strathmillan Elementary School.  Volunteer hours are available.

Any girls interested in playing Varsity Basketball next year, there will be a quick meeting today in Mr. Kavadas’ room, room 206 at 12:03.

Reminder to all JT Grads 2015 - Cap and Gown rentals are $25 and due this Friday, May 1st.
John Taylor Collegiate is now open to receiving online payments for Grad Cap and Gown 2015.   Please visit the John Taylor Website and click on Grad 2015.  All the information you need regarding grad will be there.

Grad dinner tickets will also be available for online purchase in the near future. Please see the school website and listen for synervoice messages for updates.

A new scholarship is available for a lucky grade 12 student.  The John Taylor Take Action Scholarship.  This $100 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has initiated a Take Action Project that makes a difference in the lives of other students and their community.
The Take Action Project must be meaningful to students, and related to issues that are important, relevant and personally significant.
Please see Mrs. Palmer for the application.  Deadline is April 28th.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
• Youth between the ages of 18-30 who are residents of Winnipeg;
• Those entering or enrolled in post-secondary education;
• Those who have made a significant contribution to Winnipeg;
• Those who are advocates for health and safety of Winnipeg;
• Those who have indicated their intention to apply their education in the inner-city upon graduation.
Deadline is June 15, 2015
