The Pipers hockey team defeated Garden City 4-2 last night at the MTS Iceplex. Dylan R. led the way with 2 goals including the game winner. Shane B. and Keiran U. each had a goal and Dylan M. made 14 saves for the victory. Chris S. took home the Golden Wrench award for hardest working player as he recorded 10 shots on goal and 6 hits in the game.

October is LGBT History Month: In June 2011, California became the first state to pass a bill requiring public schools to teach the historical accomplishments of the LGBT community.

Reminder to all students: Picture retakes will take place on Tuesday, Oct 28, 2014.  Let’s get those brightest and widest smiles ready.

Attention all students, this week is Citizenship Week. We are holding a Spirit Day on Friday to celebrate our Canadian Spirit and Pride. Please wear Red and White or any Canadian Gear. As well, join in on singing the National Anthem on Friday morning, to show your pride as the True North Strong and Free.

Do you have skates?  Do you have skates you are not using?  We would like to collect skates that people are not using and would like to donate to the school.   Please check your storage closets and drop off any used skates to the office or to Ms Rokosh.

Reminder: there will be a Daily Grind GSA Meeting held this Monday. Please see Mrs. Memka for details.

Attention all students, from Monday October 20th to Thursday, October 30th, John Taylor will hold its first Grade War Challenge in support of the We Scare Hunger Campaign with Free the Children. Canada has more than 800 food banks and 3,000 food programs helping those in need.
All students are encouraged to bring in canned goods to your Period 3 classes. Let's work together to help children and families who go without food on a daily basis."

SAFE GRAD is a fun and safe after-grad party planned and organized by the parents of graduates. That safe celebration, known as SAFE GRAD, is now widely accepted and is an integral part of graduation in nearly all Manitoba high schools. The official slogan is “It’s your graduation....get home safe”   The NEXT MEETING is Tuesday October 21 @ 6:30 in the JTC Theatre.

Grad Clothing will be on sale in the front link at noon Tues Oct. 21, Wed. Oct. 22, and Thurs. Oct. 23. Please see Mrs. Memka in room 301 or Ms. Gosselin in room 106 for order forms if you are interested.

Save the date: Jostens will be at John Taylor on Nov. 21st for any grads interested in ordering a ring.  More info to follow closer to the date.

Reminder to all graduating students that you must complete 40 hours of Community Involvement if you plan to graduate with a St. James-Assiniboia School Division Diploma.
