October is LGBT History Month: On June 9 1994, Bill 167 (the Bob Rae government's proposed legislation extending spousal benefits to same-sex couples) is defeated 68-59 in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
A HUGE congratulations goes out to the Varsity Girls volleyball team for their 3-0 domination over Stonewall last night. Way to go BOYS!! (Not a typo, I promise.)
Attention all grade 12's there will be a brief meeting at 11:50 today in the theatre to talk about the Variety Show and Grad. Please make an effort to attend as there will be some important information about upcoming events presented at the meeting.
There will be a boys’ soccer practice today at 4:00pm. We will meet outside
Art homework club will be today in room 301 at 12:03. Please bring your lunch.

Friday is Halloween (costume day)
We will choose one day during Spirit week as a surprise Grade War Day. All students dressed up in their Spirit Week Gear will earn points for their grade. Get in the Halloween Spirit, show your Piper Pride, and get involved.

Attention all students, from Monday October 20th to Thursday, October 30th, John Taylor will hold its first Grade War Challenge in support of the We Scare Hunger Campaign with Free the Children. Canada has more than 800 food banks and 3,000 food programs helping those in need.
All students are encouraged to bring in canned goods to your Period 3 classes. Let's work together to help children and families who go without food on a daily basis.
Save the date for the John Taylor Variety Night in support of the graduating class of 2014. Join us on Friday, December 5 at 7:00 PM for a wonderful show and silent auction to raise money in support of the Class of 2014. Tickets go on sale December 1 - 4 be early to have the opportunity to select your seats at a floor table. Stay tuned for more details.
