Announcements for June 5, 2015

Attention Pipers- Be sure to come down to the theatre at lunch to check out the Rock Band showcase. You will hear Emma's Sound and Fury and Nacho Libre's Super Piccante perform. You will also see Sandor G. bite the head off a live defenseless chocolate bunny in tribute to Alice Cooper. Bring your lunch and join us in the theatre.

Do you like popcorn? Come down to the Theatre and buy some popcorn at lunch today.

Attention Rock Band Students: Just a reminder that you are to be in the band room at the beginning of period 3.

Any students who would like to keep their ART work from this year must collect it by Friday, June 12.

There are a handful of graduating students that need to submit your convocation write-up to the Office. If you have not hand in your write up, please see Mrs. Palmer or the office if you have any questions.  Information can include: favorite JT memory, plans for next year and thank yous to people who supported, encouraged or inspired you.

All grads - the Safe Grad Tickets will be available Thursday June 11 and 12 from 12:10 - 12:45 in the front link.  Reminder that the ticket for Grads is covered by fundraising but the guest tickets are $10.00 each.  All Safe Grad forms must be submitted to the office before you can get your tickets.

Attention grade 11 and 12 students, today River City Ford is partnering up with John Taylor Collegiate to conduct a test-drive fundraising event. For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company of Canada will donate $20 to the participating community partner - up to $6,000 total!  Pre-register with Ms. Paragg in room 109. All proceeds are in support of Free the Children's Me to We Service Trip.

Any student of Philippine Heritage who is interested in becoming part of the Youth Filipino Business Council please see Ms Grant for information.

Attention any graduating students who are planning to attend the University of Manitoba.  There is a $5000 Bursary for students with a minimum average of 80% and who can demonstrate that they are in financial need based on a government student loan assessment. Please see Mrs. Palmer if you have any questions.

Students participating in the field trip to Rainbow Stage on Tuesday June 9th, you will be participating in a performance workshop which may be outside. Please dress appropriately for the workshop and weather. Bus pick-up will be at 8:30am and students will be returning for 3:30pm. Considering it is a full day field trip, you will need to bring a bag lunch.

Any students who have parking pass for the student parking please return to the office ASAP.  You will still be allowed to park in the student lot after you have returned the pass for the remainder of the school year.

Any grade 10 - 12 student interested in a summer job at a City of Winnipeg library please see Ms Grant for more information

Informnet Summer School Registration will be available until Tuesday July 7, 2015. Cost is $200 for each course.  The online summer school program is open to all students in Manitoba who have not successfully completed a course during the school year or to students who wish to improve a passing grade.  Forms are available online with www.informnet.mb.ca or see Mrs. Palmer at the office.
