Announcements for February 27, 2015

Today the Junior Band is playing at the Optimist Festival. All Junior Band students should be in the band room at the beginning of period 2.

Congratulations to the JV Girls Basketball team on their HUGE win last night. Good luck in the playoffs.   A big congratulations to Sienna Miller on her return to the game.   Great job girls!

Attention all staff and students: Today is Pink Shirt Day. We wear pink shirts in solidarity against bullying. Canada Bullying Statistics state: Between 10% and 15% of high school students are victims.

Safe Grad - March 7th Bud, Spud and Steak Fundraiser

Donation Tickets are $10.00 each
Dinner Tickets are $20.00 each ( dinner options include: steak, chicken, vegan & vegetarian)

Tickets are not available at the door.

Please send your donation for the safe grad Bud, Spud & Steak to the office prior to next Wednesday.

Just a quick clarification any grads attending also have to purchase tickets. If they are minors they can still attend, but must leave the premises of TYC by 9pm.

Announcements for February 20, 2015

The Pipers hockey team defeated Selkirk 5-3 last night at the MTS Iceplex to complete a series sweep and move into the final 4 of the city championships. Dylan R. had 3 points including the game winner and Shane B. also had a goal and 3 points to lead the Pipers. Marcus A. had 2 goals and Craig W. rounded out the scoring for JT. The Pipers now play the St.Pauls Crusaders, the series starts next Tuesday at the Iceplex.

Would all students who are attending Festival du Voyageur please meet in the link after announcements.

All students going to the Blood Donation Field Trip today need to report to the office for 9:00.  You must have your ID with you.

The Pipers hockey team defeated Selkirk 3-2 in a shootout last night at the St.Andrews Arena. The Pipers trailed 2-0 late in the third period when Wyatt K. scored short handed to pull the Pipers within 1. The Pipers pulled their goalie in the last minute and Shane "Zabiggs"B. scored off a great feed from Wyatt K. to tie the game up with 18 seconds left. The game went to a shootout where Jacob G. stopped all 3 Selkirk shooters and "Zabiggs" B. scored the shootout winning goal. The Pipers lead the best of 3 series 1-0 and game 2 is set for Thursday, 4:00 at the Iceplex. The Hockey team is calling for all fans to pack the Iceplex and cheer on the team to victory!

Report cards will be distributed today.  Grade 11 students will pick up their report cards at 10:45 in the theatre.  Grade 12 students will pick up their report cards at 10:45 in the library. Grade 9 students will pick up their report cards at 3:20 in the library and Grade 10 students will pick up their report cards in the theatre at 3:20.  Please make sure that you have paid any outstanding fees.

Announcements for February 12, 2015

Congratulations to the Varsity boys Basketball team who defeated Kelvin High school in a close hard fought game.  JT also defeated St. Paul’s and have a firm grasp on second place.

If you are volunteering with Ms. Paragg for the open house tonight, you must attend a rehearsal at 11:00am this morning. Please see Ms. Paragg if you are unable to attend.

Announcements for February 11, 2015

Report cards will be distributed on Friday the 13th.  Grade 11 students will pick up their report cards at 10:45 in the theatre.  Grade 12 students will pick up their report cards at 10:45 in the library. Grade 9 students will pick up their report cards at 3:20 in the library and Grade 10 students will pick up their report cards in the theatre at 3:20.  Please make sure that you have paid any outstanding fees.

Valentine's Day is this Saturday and Valentine Candy grams will be on sale From Monday, February 9 - Thursday, February 12th. Each candy gram is 50 cents, and all proceeds will be donated to Free the Children.

Attention students who were enrolled in Woods Class first semester.  Your wooden cars are available for pick up in the office.  Any unclaimed cars will be discarded by the end of the week.

There will be a short 5 minute meeting of all Yearbook members tomorrow at 12 noon sharp. Please come straight to the room as the meeting will be very quick. Anyone not able to attend at 12 noon should see Mr. Kutcy ASAP. Attendance is mandatory!

Grad photos will take place on Feb. 17-20 & 23.  Please see the office to book your time slot and to pick up an information sheet.  For those students you have a full schedule, noon hours slots are available.  As well, there is a $20 sitting fee due at the time of your scheduled appointment.

On February 19, 2015, the Safe Grad Committee will be at John Taylor from 5:30pm to 7:00pm for ticket sales for the March 7th Bud Spud and Steak Safe Grad Fundraiser. Purchase your tickets on this night, both support and/or dinner, and you will get one ballot per ticket for a chance to win two tickets to the March 19, 2015 JETS GAME against St. Louis Blues.Draw will be done at the end of the ticket sales.  Any grads attending also have to purchase tickets. If are under 18, you can still attend, but must leave the premises of TYC by 9pm.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and Valentine Candy grams will be on sale From Monday, February 9 - Thursday, February 12th. Each candy gram is 50 cents, and all proceeds will be donated to Free the Children.

Announcements for February 9, 2015

Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Basketball Team who won the O’Leary Spartan Showdown in Edmonton this weekend with and exciting 71-69 victory over the host school.  Congrats to all-stars Sweet Lou M. and Ricki Z. and defensive player James W. of the tournament.

Congrats to the JV Girls Basketball for finishing 4th in Brandon.  As well, congrats to Taylor S., Vanessa H. and Rachel K. for winning the Brandon University Shooting Camp.

Attention Youth In Philanthropy Committee: There is a mandatory meeting being held on Tuesday, February 10th, at 12:10 in Ms. Paragg's room. Please see Ms. Paragg if you cannot attend

There will be a short 5 minute meeting of all Yearbook members this Wednesday at 12 noon sharp. Please come straight to the room as the meeting will be very quick. Anyone not able to attend at 12 noon should see Mr. Kutcy ASAP. Attendance is mandatory!

Registration forms for next year will be distributed at the grade level meetings today.  Forms are to returned to the office before Friday.  Please see Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Grant if you have any questions about course selections.

Are you 17 years of age or older and would like to donate blood?  We have arranged for a bus to take us from JT to the blood services building on Friday February 20 at 9:00 and 10:00.

We have received information regarding a few scholarships that are available for students who have participated in volunteer activities this year in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12. If you would like more information about these scholarships please stop in and see Ms Grant in room 201 (The Guidance Room).

Announcements for February 6,, 2015

It is time to dodge, duck, dip, and dive. Yes its intramural dodgeball time. It is open gym all this week to play. Get some friends and enter a team. Sign your team up outside of gym A on the bulletin board. League play will start next week.
