Congratulations to the students and staff who participated in the Spring Varity Fashion Show to help raise money for Grad 2014.  It was a big success.
Way to go Paul R, Ricky F and Martin Y for doing so well at the Canadian Chess Challenge.
We would like to highlight Shyneice, Taylor and Brianna for their accomplishments in cheerleading.
Dan D was also a top finisher for his age category at the Manitoba Cadet Biathalon.
Samantha L from grade 12, Dustin from Grade 11 and Britany W from grade 10 each won $100 in the Association of Professional Engineers & Scientists of Manitoba's annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition. They build bridges out of spaghetti and white glue that could not weigh more than 350 grams.  This competition also donates food to Winnipeg Harvest that equals the weight of the bridges built.
Lastly the following JV boys: Ben A, Jared M, Jacob M, Kanen L, Tristan P, Robel F, Ricki Z, Luis M, Josh G, Jason Q, James W and Manager Ben K who won the Provincial Basketball Championship.
James will be JT Principal for the Day and Josh will be the JT VP for the Day.
Their first action was to have a teacher VS student challenge for the most baskets.  Unfortunetly Mr. K was not successful so this meant Timbits for the entire school.

Essay Writing Contest Winner

Monica M., a Grade 10 student, has International student Yuka O. to thank for inspiring her! Monica and Yuka became friends when Yuka arrived from Japan last year. As Yuka's time in Canada and at John Taylor was drawing to a close, the girls promised to keep in touch. That is when Yuka gave Monica the idea to study in another country. Yuka returned to Japan, but before she left she gave Monica information from her sponsoring agency, Global Partners. The rest was up to Monica. She decided to apply for a full 5 month scholarship essay writing contest. The only tricky part was one essay was to be written in Japanese.
Monica submitted her essay in English and in Japanese. Her submission was selected and she is off to study in Japan next year. Congratulations Monica, we wish you all the best!
