JT Announcements for February 28, 2014

Spring Fling tickets will be on sale today at lunch. Currently, the Orange Team is leading the competition.

All next week at lunch in the gym we are holding the First Annual John Taylor All Star Basketball Skills Competition. Sign up on the board outside of Gym A. Your name must be on the list by Friday if you want to participate. The preliminary rounds of the Free Throw Challenge, Three Point Competition and Two Ball Showdown will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The finals will go on Thursday and Friday... WHOOO!!!

Any students willing to make centerpieces for the Variety Show should show up to Mrs. Memka's room (room 301) today at lunch. Please bring your lunch

JT Announcements for February 27, 2014

Talking Circle will take place today at 12:15 in room 313. All are welcome.

Can you feel it everyone? Spring is in the air......the Spring Fling Dance, that is. Tickets go on sale this today for our Spring Fling Formal Dance. Tickets are $5.00 each. The Dance will be held Friday, March 7th from 7:00-10:30pm.  And, we're throwing in a twist. Ticket sales will be our first competition for our gym blast teams. The team to have the most tickets sold will get the bragging rights of winning the first competition, and lead the way into the Gym Blast competition!

Edit: Tickets will also be on sale Feb 28 at lunch. The Orange Team is currently in the lead.

Attention all students: This is your last day to sign up for Gym Blast teams. Teams will be posted outside Ms. Paragg's room and in the Front Link on Wednesday, Feb.26th. There will be no changes to teams once they've been finalized. Please see Ms. Paragg in room 210 if there are any problems.

Today, 27 students from John Taylor Collegiate, who are members of our Student Council and GSA, are attending Count Me In Winnipeg.

Congratulations to the JV Girls Basketball team for their 3rd place finish in the River East Tournament over the weekend.

A reminder to Grads that the Bud, Spud & Steak tickets will be on sale today and Wednesday Feb. 26 from 3:30 – 6:30. This will be the last chance to get tickets for the fundraiser as tickets will not be sold at the door. Also donations are still needed so please get those in as soon as possible as well.

John Taylor now has its very own Bible Study that will be taking place every Monday after school in the Band room. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Ryan W.

Important Dates & Information

On Friday February 28 student will be selecting their courses for the 2014-15 school year. In order to enter their courses for next year students must have returned their registration to the office.

John Taylor will be raffling off a pair of Jets tickets for the March 4th game against the New York Islanders. Tickets are available at lunch hours in the front link for $2.00 or 3 for $5.00. Proceeds go to Student Activities and Safe Grad.

Our Arts Department is sponsoring a Solo Night on Tuesday February 25th at 7 PM hosted by Comedian Big Daddy Tazz. Tickets are $5.00 and available from the office.

On March 6 our Safe Grad Parent committee is hosting a Spud and Steak evening at the Canad Inns Polo Park. Tickets are $20.00 with a great selection of silent auction opportunities.

Grade 9 Immunization forms are due on Monday February 24.

Grade 9 Immunizations

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority offers the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine
to all Grade 9 students. John Taylor’s clinic will take place the morning of Thursday, March 20, 2014. Please encourage your child to eat well and wear a short sleeved shirt on the day of the clinic. Immunization forms and information were sent home via our English classes. These forms will need to be returned by February 21st.

Mrs. Joanne Huzel is a substitute Educational Assistant at John Taylor and she will be receiving an Recognition of Achievement Award for her outstanding commitment.

JT Spaghetti Bridge Challenge is on...

Students began the process of competing in the spaghetti bridge challenge today.  Students were given the criteria for the competition and began their design process.
