Announcements for April 29, 2016

There will be a bake sale today at lunch.

Congratulations again to the Pipers Ultimate team!
Battling extreme windy conditions, the Pipers beat Oak Park 5 - 3 to continue their winning ways.  In a game where defense won the game, special honours go to Presley who shut down the other team's #1 handler and to Madi, Devon, and Lexi who had some key turn-overs in our favour. Good luck Pipers as you enter two teams this weekend in tournament action.

There is a very important Ultimate meeting today at 12:30.

Today is the obstacle course competition in the gym at 12:10 in the gym.  We need 10 students from each grade to participate.  Come out and cheer on your grade and win some prize! Sign-up sheet is in the office

Today is the last chance for grade 11 students to return their permission forms for the Rotary Career Symposium.  Please drop them by Ms. Grant’s office.  Also, if you are planning to drive to the career symposium in a private vehicle please see Ms. Grant asap.

Attention all Grads- your safe grad forms are due before May 20. Make sure you swing by the office to pick them up.

Attention all grade 12s - the Applebees Pancake Breakfast for this Saturday, April 30th is cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

If you would like to be a team captain or general manager for Intramural Floor Hockey, you must see Mr. Bruce to take part in the draft selection process. A new sign-up sheet is posted outside the doors of Gym A/B.

Reminder to Peer Mentors – this Friday April 29th is our Walk A Thon. All must attend, rain or shine. Meet in the back field at the track at 11:45 AM.

There is a Construction Career Expo at Assiniboine Downs on May 10th.  The school bus will be leaving school at 8:15 and return before lunch.  The Expo will have many different interactive booths, information on Construction Trades and hands on activities. Please pick up a Permission form from Mr. Johnson if you would like to participate.

The Teddy Bear's Picnic is looking for students to volunteer at this year's event.  If you are interested in getting some volunteer hours, please see Mrs. Kent for details.  

There will be a Grad Ring fitting on April 29 from 11AM to 1:30PM in the front link.

Announcements for April 28, 2016

The sources of strength activity today is "laughter is the best medicine" Come to the theatre at 12:15 for a few laughs and FREE POPCORN!!!!

Attention all Pipers. If you are interested in running for Student Council Executive for the 2016-2017 school year, please attend our information meeting on Wednesday, April 27th at 12:03 in Ms. Paragg's room, room 109. Applications and Election Dates will be discussed.

Any Grade 11 student who did not get a permission form for the career symposium please pick it up at the office today.  Deadline for permission form return is this Friday, April 29th.

Today is Positive Post It day for Sources of Strength.  Please come to the front link at noon to get your Post-its.

There is a sign up sheet at the office for the Obstacle Course Challenge to be held this Friday at 12:10 in the Gym.  First 10 students in each grade to sign up are entered!

Tomorrow there will be mindfullness yoga in the dance studio at noon.

There is Ultimate practice today at lunch. Be dressed and ready by 12:30.

The student advisory meeting has been re-scheduled to Tuesday, April 26 at 11:45am in the bio lab.

For any French, Art and Photography students interested in the trip to Quebec next year, there is a very short, mandatory meeting today in the Art room. It will start promptly at 12 noon so that you can get the updated information. Please come directly from your 3rd period class so that we can start the meeting as fast as possible.

Congratulations to our boy’s handball team who defeated Kelvin on Monday night but lost a close game to Dakota last night.  Special mention to Brayden G. for some great goal tending and Ricki and Jason for leading the defense

Congratulations to Brett A. and Troy K. who represented John Taylor in the zone doubles badminton tournament yesterday.  They played some fearsome foes, and overcame some tremendous obstacles, finishing third and earning a bronze medal.  Congratulations to all those who represented John Taylor in badminton over the past few weeks - we are lucky to have you as proud pipers!"

There will be a student advisory meeting on Thursday, April 21 at 11:45am in the Bio Lab.

Congratulations and Thank You to all 30 students who participated in the Sources of Strength Training yesterday and to the staff who took time to be part of this as well.  Our first meeting will be held in Mrs. Mercier's room this Thursday at 12:03.  Listen for announcements and look for posters advertising upcoming events for next week.

Congratulations to Abby M. who placed third overall in yesterday's girls singles zone tournament!  There were many hard-won games and she played as strong as she's ever played.  For those wanting to see more intense badminton action, head over to Vincent Massey after school today to watch Brett "The Beast" Armstrong and Troy "The Terminator" Kemball bring the heat.  You know it's going to be lit."

Congratulations to Mr. Kavadas who was awarded Basketball Manitoba coach of the year on the weekend. Also James W. was the Player of the year and the Carl Ridd award winner. Riki Z. was a First Team Allstar in Mb and Jade S., Zach G. and Josh G.were graduating allstars recognized for being the top 20 AAAA players in Manitoba. great job  students and Mr. Kavadas.

A huge congratulations to Craig W on being named the winner of the Marni Miles Sportsmanship Award for the Winnipeg High School Hockey League and Shane B for 2 awards The Price Division MVP and the Price Division scoring Champion, well done. Several players were nominated for league awards but were not selected, They were Josh J, Chris S, Jade C and Colin M. A great season by many players to earn these selections.

The cost is $10 per team, with all proceeds being donated to Cancer Care in honour of Madison Claven-Enns. The tournament will be April 21st after school. Come out and support this worthwhile event.

Announcements for April 11, 2016

Just a reminder to grads that you must pay for your grad cap and gown on line by April 29.

All grads please check the list posted outside the office.  If your name is missing or spelled incorrectly please notify the office immediately.

The balcony will be closed to all students until the musical is over.

There is a sign-up sheet at the office for any staff or student interested in participating in YOGA to be held Wednesdays at lunch in the dance studio.  The first class will be on Wednesday April 13th

Any students who would like to purchase tickets to the dress rehearsal to Mary Poppins on April 12 from 9:15 -12:00 please see the office for permission slips that must be signed by your period 1, 2 and 3 teachers.  Tickets are 6:00 each.

Announcements for April 6, 2016

There will be musical Rehearsal Mon-Thurs 12:15-1:00 pm in the dance studio.

There will a boys Baseball meeting in Room 204 on today at lunch in room 204.  All players wishing to attend tryout must sign up at this meeting

All students who showed up to the Trip to France meeting before the break are asked to remind their parents that there is NO parent meeting tonight. The parent meeting has been postponed until a later date.

Attention all boys indoor soccer:   Please return all soccer jerseys to Ms. Rokosh.

There will be Boys and girls rugby practice today outside, be prepared for the weather, dress appropriately.  Practice starts at 3:45, meet by C gym to go outside. Next practice is Wednesday after school.

There will be a brief but important meeting for anyone interested in outdoor track in Mr. Loewen's room (room 203) today at lunch. If you can't make it, first practice is today at 3:30.
