Announcements for May 27, 2015

An impressive showing by all of the students at the Jazz Cafe last night. Thank you for sharing your talents and time and making JT proud. A big thank you to Mr. Hamilton and Ms. Carter for all of your hard work organizing and assembling the performance. The atmosphere was perfect, the students brimming with talent. Let`s not forget Mr. Kutcy who was there documenting the big event for future posterity!

The GSA meeting will be held in room 301 at noon today. All are welcome to attend.

There will be a large committee meeting in room 109 on Friday at 12pm for all student advisory, GSA and student council members. Bring your lunch. A treat will be served.

JTs Annual Sports Banquet takes place on June 1st @ 4:30pm in the Theatre with supper to follow.  Tickets will be on sale in the front link starting today until Friday May 29th.  Cost is $10/ticket.

WWAC Scholar Athlete luncheon forms are due to Mrs. Campbell on Friday, May 29th if you plan to attend.

Volunteers are needed for the Rain Date of the Assiniboia Community Clean Up today from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Victoria Community Club at 950 Sturgeon Road.  Routes and supplies will be assigned with a BBQ to follow.  Please call Jim Rondeau’s office to register at 204-888-7722.

Students from Mrs. Peters Global Issues class are doing a Take Action Project and collecting nonperishable food items to donate to Winnipeg Harvest.  Please bring your donations to Mrs. Peters room today.  Please talk to Didier and Ricky from Global Issues if you have any questions.

Any girls who are planning to try out for the varsity girls’ volleyball team next year, there will be a practice today at 3:30 until 5:30. If you are planning to tryout but can't make it please let Mrs. Campbell or Mr. Smith know. All must attend

Girls’ soccer you have a home game tomorrow.  Please be here for 4:15pm!

ART Club takes place today at 3:30 in the art room.  Everyone is welcome

Attention all students.  Today and Thursday at lunch in the front of the school, we will be hosting a Pennies for Paws fundraiser supporting the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter!  Donations of any amount are accepted.  So get out there and come see some furry friends.  Hope to see you there!

John Taylor Collegiate Annual Arts show is taking place on Wednesday, June 3.
Artwork and photography from your very own very talented Pipers will be on display from 4:30 - 8:30 pm in Gym C.  Dance recital will begin at 7 pm in Gym AB.

Attention grade 11 and 12 students, on Friday June 5th River City Ford is partnering up with John Taylor Collegiate to conduct a test-drive fundraising event. For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company of Canada will donate $20 to the participating community partner - up to $6,000 total!  Pre register with Ms. Paragg in room 109. All proceeds are in support of Free the Children's Me to We Service Trip.

Please contact Mrs Palmer if you able to volunteer for the Lakewood parent council on Wednesday JUNE 3rd.

St James Minor Baseball is looking for volunteers to help on July 31 through August 2 with the canteen, gate, score keeping and pitch counting.  Please see the office for more details.

Informnet Summer School Registration will be available until Tuesday July 7, 2015. Cost is $200 for each course.  The online summer school program is open to all students in Manitoba who have not successfully completed a course during the school year or to students who wish to improve a passing grade.  Forms are available online with www.informnet.mb.ca or see Mrs. Palmer at the office.
