JT Announcements January 23, 2014

Students who have misplaced their second semester timetable need to make arrangements in the office to have another schedule printed this week or during exam week.

Please check out the exam seating list on the bulletin board outside of the office.  Please see Mrs. Palmer if you have any questions.

There is an extremely important yearbook today at noon. All yearbook members are to come to room 309 as soon as they can at noon hour.
--
The French oratorical speaking competition will take place here at John Taylor Collegiate in March.  Please see Ms. Armistead if you would like to participate or volunteer.
--
Do you want to travel somewhere in Canada and learn French this summer?  See Ms. Armistead in room 303 if you'd like to know more.  You do NOT have to take French to apply.
--
John Taylor will be collecting old and used sports clothing and equipment for KidSport Canada, to be given to underprivileged kids in Manitoba. Lists of most needed items will be posted, however all items will be accepted. You can drop off all donations in the office. Thank you for helping in need kids to play the sports we all love.

Grad Photo Sign up will take place in the front link on Feb 5th during the lunch hour.

The JT Boys curling team played extremely well last night but came in second in the AAAA zone final game. They put in a valiant effort but came up against a strong team with luck on their side. Congratulations to both the boys and girls curling teams for making it into the finals!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team who defeated St. John’s last night.

Congratulations to the Boys Curling Team who made it to the Finals, taking place at 3:30 today against Westwood at the Charleswood Curling Rink.

Students wanting a 2013 - 2014 Yearbook should check the list in the front link. If your name is not on that list, that means you have not paid for a yearbook and won't be able to get one. Please check the list and make sure that you are not disappointed!

Below is a tentative schedule for the 50th Anniversary celebration.
Thursday – May 15th, 2014


Drop By Georgies (Club 3D) for a pre-reunion get together. No Charge.
Friday – May 16th, 2014

18:00 – Old Friends, New Connections – Meet and Greet at John Taylor.
21:00 – Social Evening – Do You Remember the Monterey Ranch… – Canad Inn Polo Park – Watch some of JT’s great alumni musicians 
Rock the Stage and catch up with friends and staff.
Saturday – May 17th, 2014

09:00 – 11:00 – Pancake Breakfast.
10:00 – 16:00 – Sports Day – 
Remember the Pipers – Relive the old days in the gym, on the field, in the pool or on the ice. Including the following tentative activities:
Basketball, Volleyball, Water Polo, Hockey, Slow Pitch, Table Tennis, Gym Riot, Golf.
Tour of the school.

18:00 – 
Saturday Night Fever – Convention Centre. 
Whether you have Gangnam Style or were Born to be Wild, you can be a Dancing Queen or the King of the Road, so Let the Good Times Roll.
Sunday – May 18th, 2014
11:00 – 15:00 – Family Day at JT. Activities and food available for the whole family.

A huge thank you to all the Jazz Bands, Choir, Vocal Jazz, and Dance students who made Friday's Jazz Cafe a great success. Thanks also to Ms Carter, Ms Botincan, Ms Krahn, Mr Kutcy, Ms Palmer, and Ms Morris, and all the student and parent volunteers we could not have done this without you.

Congratulations to the JV Girls Basketball Team who were consolation champs at the Westwood tournament over the weekend. A special shout-out to Jade S., Sienna M., and Kiana S. who were named players of the game.

Any Grade 9, 10 and 11 students' who want to write this year's math contests for Pascal, Cayley or Fermat and don't have math this semester are asked to see Mr. Goetz in Room 211 to register. Students who have math this semester and wish to register, please talk to your math teacher.
